Environmental disposition of the LGA

In 1996 the LGA introduced an environment management system. The certification of this system by another party took place in 1998. The main activity at first was to improve processes which influenced the environment on site. So, installations which might have an impact on the environment, such as inverted drainage wells or hydraulic systems, were assigned a supervisor and operation instructions. When obtaining materials, environmentally friendly products are preferred. Safety measures, such as a second cycle in between the hydraulic cooling system and well water system, were taken. In the mean time our efforts cannot be surpassed.

As a result the emphasis was shifted in 2001. Now the LGA can do more for the environment by offering its services to customers than with measures taken on its own sites. Therefore, the main activity in the field of environmental protection will take place in environmental services we can offer.

In 2001/2002 the LGA was changed from within. As a result some of the environmental services will be carried out by one of the LGA's subsidiaries. They are included in the following list.

At the moment these services (consulting, testing, surveillance, and experts' opinions, as well as information and certificates) are available:

• management of contamination and environmental geology (LGA institute of environmental geology and contamination "LGA Institut für Umweltgeologie und Altlasten GmbH")
• installations according to the Federal Water Act
• environmental protection engineer vocational training
• expert opinion and measurement according to the Federal Immissions Act (LGA immissions and work safety "LGA Immissions- und Arbeitsschutz GmbH")
• building of landfills (LGA) and supervising of same(LGA Institut für Umweltgeologie und Altlasten GmbH)
• protection of ambient water
• golf courses (LGA Institut für Umweltgeologie und Altlasten GmbH)
• hydrology
• canal remediation
• life-cycle management
• protection from noise
• ecological products
• green labels and green energy labels
• products tested for contaminants
• potable water
• environment management and environment management systems
• environmental protection and energy
• environmental compatability
• EMF-environment
