The GS-Mark |
 |

Description/the mark stands for:
GS stands for geprüfte Sicherheit, or tested for safety, and the GS mark is a voluntary mark of safety recognised far beyond Germany. In the field of consumer and workplace protection, it is intended to be a guarantee that technical requirements for safety have been met, and that they are tested and regularly monitored by an independent institution (an authorised body, such as TÜV Rheinland LGA Products GmbH). The German Equipment and Product Safety Act lays down how the award is to be made.
Which products may bear the GS mark?
- Technical working equipment,
i.e. working appliances that are ready for use and are intended to be used exclusively for working purposes (capital goods, e.g. oil drilling platforms, special tools, equipment for lifting and conveying, means of transportation)
- Consumer goods that are ready for use (e.g. furniture, hammer drills, chain saws, toys, drink dispensers, exercise equipment, prams, mountain bikes, playground equipment, home and kitchen appliances, rent-out appliances such as steam cleaners, concrete grinders, small shovel excavators.
